This Beggar in Gujarat Just Spent All His Money on Buying Gold Earrings for Poor Girls

Something incredible took place in Gujarat’s Mehsana on Tuesday. As was custom, 10 underprivileged girls and their families were waiting at Magpara School’s anganwadi, awaiting a special visitor. Every year, Khimjibhai Prajapati, a beggar, donates either books or school uniforms to girls from poor families, in an attempt to encourage the education of girls.
These families were stunned when this time, Khimjibhai took out ten jewellery boxes instead.

He presented gold earrings to the little girls from the money he made from begging outside temples in the city.

He had informed the anganwadi that he wanted to gift earrings this time around.  So the teachers chose girls who are children of daily wage labourers  and blacksmiths.
Kumud Luhariya, the mother of one of the children, told Times of India, “We struggle to meet monthly expenses. We never even dreamt of getting gold.”
Khimjibhai bought the earrings from jeweler Deepak Shah. The tiny earrings cost Rs. 13,000. But when Deepak heard that it was for a noble cause, he gave Khimjibhai a discount of Rs. 3,000.
Over the last decade, Khimjibhai has spent Rs. 80,000 for paying school fees, buying books, uniforms, etc., for girls from underprivileged families.
He told the Times of India, “Girls need to be encouraged to study. They must become self-reliant and stand on their feet. The situation in Mehsana is not good. There are very few girls compared to boys and this is the reason why I try to encourage them with such incentives.”
With this generous gift, Khimjibhai has emptied his pockets and will return to his usual begging spot.
